Aims and Scope
The peer-reviewed journal "Shagi / Steps" has been published since 2015 by the School of Advanced Studies in the Humanities at the Institute for Social Sciences of the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA). The journal discusses topical problems of modern humanitarian knowledge, including ancient culture, Oriental studies, comparative linguistics, historical and cultural studies, cultural studies and social communication, and theoretical folklore studies. The editorial board of "Shagi" includes major Russian and foreign scholars in the fields of Russian and world literature, folklore, ethnography, anthropology, history, art history, and linguistics. Authors of the journal include respected researchers from various regions of Russia and other countries. Articles can be found in both Russian and English.
Mission
The journal’s mission is to disсuss current problems in contemporary humanities in such academic disciplines as Classical Studies, Oriental Studies, Comparative Linguistics, Historical and Cultural Studies, Social Communication, Theoretical Folklore Studies, Sociolinguistics. The journal also seeks to provide a tribune for wide-ranging discussions that extend far beyond the “craft” frameworks of the School’s laboratories and potentially cover the entirety of contemporary knowledge in the humanities (that is, history, philology, anthropology, cultural studies, art criticism, and philosophy). 
Publication Types
The journal’s editors accept the following types of manuscripts for consideration: Original Article, Review Article, Book Review, Interview, Translation. Publication in the journal is possible in the following languages: Russian, English. 
Publishing Schedule
Journal is published once a quarter: No. 1 (March), No. 2 (June), No. 3 (September), No. 4 (December).
Author Fees
Authors are not charged any fees for publication.

Peer-Review Policy
All submitted manuscripts are checked for their correspondence with the themes and formal requirements of the journal. All scientific articles submitted to the editorial office of the "Shagi / Steps" journal undergo mandatory one-sided anonymous "blind" reviewing (the authors of the manuscript do not know the reviewers). At the request of the reviewer, their name may be revealed to the author.

The copyright for articles published in the journal belongs to the authors.

Preprint and Postprint Policy
The journal accepts preprints and encourages authors to share the data supporting the results in the paper by archiving it in an appropriate public repository.
